At the end of October, young patients, parents and children's orthopedic nurses at the University Hospital in Motola could see the puppets of Šupita the mouse and Bělobřich the fox from the new production Mice Belong in Heaven for the first time (but only for a while). Marka Míková, Tonda Novotný and Hanka Grančičová presented a brand new theater project based on the popular book by Ivy Procházková. The festive premiere took place on Saturday 31 October in the Minor Theatre.

Puppets in the hospital - Mice belong in heaven - FN Motol

"We try to make the children laugh, bring them to different thoughts, or even open a space for communication about the difficult situation they are currently experiencing. The production Mice belong in heaven (but only for a while) is intended for both young and old children. Its main theme is friendship beyond the grave. It is full of humor, fantasy, songs and a world full of love that we can all live in right now. It uses minimal props and decorations and yet touches on big themes. Marka Míková, who also took care of the dramatization of the story, explains the choice of the text and its processing.

The puppets for the production were made by the artist Zuzana Štancelová and the music was composed by Jiří Hodina and Jaromír František Palme - Fumas.

The Children's and Adult Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Prague and the Faculty Hospital in Motola are regularly visited by the Muppets in the hospital every Monday. Thanks to the support of good people and partners, they are able to stage more than fifteen hundred puppet shows annually during almost three hundred visits to hospitals and treatment centers throughout the country. Monday's visit was supported by the B. Braun Group as part of the B. Braun for Life charity project and also thanks to the Municipal District of Prague 5, which supported the December visits to Motolská hospital. The production was also created with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, and we will surely play it for the children of Prague 5 in December.

You can encounter the work of Loutek in the hospital even if you are healthy! In addition to the premiere of the new production, the Minor Theater also hosted a performance of Sloths inspired by the book Koulkoul&Molokoloch by the Belgian artist and writer Anne-Catherine De Boel, and in the run-up to Christmas, the Puppets in the hospital gave the children the fairy tale The Gift (or try to follow the path not taken) based on the book by the American writer and children's poet Dr. Seuss Oh, the Places you'll Go!

Proceeds from all performances at the Minor Theater will be used to pay for further visits to hospitals and treatment centers in Prague.

If you missed the performance in Minor, come see us at the theater in 2016. We are preparing a series of events in cooperation with the Švanda Theater in Smíchov!
